St Oswald's Way Ultra Marathon

Holy Trinity Church Restoration Appeal

St Oswald’s Way Ultra Marathon

The villages of Rathmell and Wigglesworth have had a parish church since 1842, which has served as a focal point for these rural communities. However, Holy Trinity church is now showing signs of considerable damage and disrepair, so the villagers have been given the mammoth task of raising over £20,000 to supplement a grant from the Lottery Heritage Fund to repair and upgrade the church. Amongst other fundraising events, Chris Wright and Alex Ladds are running The St Oswald’s Way 100 mile Ultra-Marathon is their furthest, toughest distance so far. They would very much appreciate any contribution no matter how small, so please support them with your giving:

“At 100 miles, including over 11,500 feet of ascent, this will be our biggest Ultra Marathon to date & represents a significant challenge.  The race starts at 7:00am on Saturday 26th September on the island of Lindisfarne & finishes at Chollerford near Hadrian’s Wall. The cut off time is 34 hours. We have been training hard since January but this 100 mile race is a big step up; your sponsorship and support will undoubtedly spur us on during the latter stages particularly the overnight phase.”
